Deployed in High-End Audi and Volkswagen Infotainment Systems
Helsinki, Finland –September 5, 2012– Tuxera Inc., today announced that e.solutions GmbH, a joint venture of Audi and Elektrobit, has selected Tuxera exFAT to power its high-end car infotainment software suite on the popular QNX/ARM platform. Shipping has started with the new Audi A3.
The goal of e.solutions is to provide an infotainment software suite to increase reuse of software for in-vehicle infotainment and to drive innovations. The company is developing technology for a new multimedia platform that provides a longer menu of infotainment options while reducing driver distraction. The all-new Audi A3 is the first car with e.solutions’ software suite included.
Tuxera offers exFAT, NTFS and FAT solutions, which bring seamless and reliable support for SD/SDXC memory cards and USB storages for any in-vehicle infotainment system. Tuxera exFAT, NTFS and FAT have been successfully integrated and tested on the most popular infotainment software platforms including Android, Linux, QNX and Windows Embedded Automotive. Main drivers for Tuxera’s solutions:
- Tuxera exFAT is needed to support the high-capacity SDXC memory card standard and exFAT-formatted USB storages. Music, pictures, videos and other media, as well as maps and other navigation data, are increasingly stored and distributed on 64GB and larger-size SDXC memory cards.
- Tuxera NTFS is needed to support Windows NTFS-formatted USB hard drives, memory sticks and other portable storages where consumers usually store music and other media. Most USB hard drives are NTFS formatted.
- Tuxera FAT is needed to improve FAT32 and other FAT-formatted storage performance, reliability and interoperability from the baseline. SD and SDHC cards, as well as most USB memory sticks, are FAT-formatted.
“Connectivity has become a key driver in car infotainment and Tuxera is an ideal partner to bring new connectivity innovations to the market. Tuxera’s solutions answer to the demand for SDXC support. Tuxera’s in-depth file system expertise has helped us with seamless integration of full exFAT support on our QNX/ARM platform for the recently launched and upcoming car models within the Volkswagen Group,” said Uwe Reder, Managing Director of e.solutions GmbH.
“We are excited to work together with e.solutions and its platform partners to bring seamless media connectivity to Volkswagen Group premium cars. Tuxera continues to work across the car infotainment software and chipset ecosystem to ensure consumers experience the best possible interoperability with the next-generation infotainment solutions,” said Mikko Välimäki, Tuxera CEO.
