Tuxera’s interoperable file system software solutions power SD/SDXC and USB connectivity in BMW iDrive.
Helsinki, Finland — September 18, 2012 — Tuxera Inc. the leading provider of interoperable file systems and connectivity software for Android, Linux, QNX, and other platforms, today announced Alpine Electronics has selected Tuxera file systems to bring seamless connectivity between SD/SDXC and USB storages and the car infotainment system. Tuxera’s software is delivering high-performance storage management to Alpine-manufactured BMW iDrive systems, which are renowned for bringing new innovations into the automotive infotainment industry.
Tuxera’s technology connects navigation and media storages to the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system. These file system implementations are especially suited for high-capacity storages with the strictest quality requirements. For example, the demand for next-generation SDXC cards is being driven by quickly growing sizes of maps and other navigation data. Also the number and size of videos and other media files that users are carrying with USB hard drives and memory sticks continues to grow.
Tuxera’s comprehensive suite of file systems designed for automotive infotainment connectivity includes exFAT, NTFS, HFS+, and FAT file systems and media streaming technologies. These proprietary implementations are integrated and tested on all the most popular infotainment software platforms including Android, Linux, GENIVI, QNX, and others.
