Aiming at simplifying and enhancing the customer experience, Tuxera’s software flash controllers are now consolidated under one unified brand and identity – Tuxera FlashFX Tera – with SafeFTL becoming Tuxera FlashFX Tera RT.
The market size for low-density flash memory (under 4Gb) is projected to reach $800 million by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 12% to 14% 1. This growth has been driven by increasing demand from automotive systems, industrial automation, medical devices, aerospace/defense, and other mission-critical applications that require reliable, secure, and cost-effective embedded storage solutions.
Flash memory is ideal for embedded applications due to its low power consumption, different density options, and non-volatile rugged nature. However, flash memory also has drawbacks, such as limited write/erase cycles, wear out challenges, and potential bad blocks that develop over time.
Tuxera’s acquisition of HCC-Embedded united two front-runners in the embedded software industry and strengthened the company’s ability to deliver resilient and secure data management software for mission and data-critical systems – in which data accuracy, longevity, and retention are critical. With decades of combined experience and the most comprehensive portfolio of specialized file systems and advanced flash translation layers for the embedded industry on the market, Tuxera continues to invest in these core technologies.
We are excited to announce that our software flash controllers Tuxera FlashFX Tera and SafeFTL will now share one single, unified brand identity. The technology and advantages of SafeFTL will be maintained in FlashFX Tera RT, a product best suited for resource-constrained environments and deterministic requirements. This rebrand is designed to simplify and harmonize our overall product offering and market reach, giving us an opportunity to serve a growing global customer base more efficiently.
By aligning our key technologies under one umbrella we can scale across markets that have similar requirements yet different environments and hardware choices. With FlashFX Tera and FlashFX Tera RT, customers can mitigate the effects of the limited lifespan of flash memory and be assured that data remains accurate even as flash memory degrades. Data loss is always prevented – no matter the use case, operating system, or memory choice.
– Eva Rio, Portfolio Manager, Tuxera
This strategic consolidation will help us provide the optimal software flash controller for customers that want to remain focused on their core business, who care about quality and data, and who are looking to reduce their time to market and risk without worrying about the complex underlying challenges of flash memory.
