Post FreeBSD6.2/NTFS-3G/Mozilla Suite problem
Greetings!
I have installed sucesfully ntfs-3g on my FreeBSD6.2 system, and also managed to mount my windowsxp ntfs partition on /windowsc mount point.

Everything seems to work fine. What I want to do is setup some applications that i use everyday to share a single profile on both windows an freebsd, using ntfs3g. I have sucessfully done that for GoogleEarth, but when up to the Mozilla suite (Firefox or Thunderbird) , i'm not able to do that.
As soon as I launch firefox or thunderbird, the system goes in kernel panic and reboots. /var/log/messages shows only one error from ntfs3g just before the kernel panic:

" ntfs-3g[1162]: Invalid arguments. "

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem or how to get more useful debug?

Thanks!

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for the bug report. The FreeBSD kernel definitely shouldn't panic during regular user actions. I'm forwarding your report to Csaba Henk who developed FUSE for FreeBSD and the user space caching system.

What ntfs-3g version do you use?

I don't think the "Invalid arguments" error is relevant but it's not a good sign. The error message will be fixed to be more explanatory in the next release. Thanks again.

Hi Szaka,

I'm currently using version 1.417_2, installed with a make install from the ports tree.

let me know if I can help in some way!

Thanks,

Daniel

Making your FreeBSD system capable of debugging kernel panics is not
difficult, but it involves some steps you have to go through. I will write up a small HOWTO and place it in the FUSE wiki, as my time permits (today or tomorrow).

Stay tuned, I will notify you here when you can go for it.

OK, it's there:

Now I excitedly expect your report :)
