Post Avid Media Composer loses link to media when using Tuxera
I use the professional editing software Avid Media Composer 5.5.3 on my Mac Book Pro 10.7.3. I transfer the video/audio media from a PC based system (at work) to my NTFS formatted G Drive mini, which I then use on my Mac based Avid.

The Avid works fine, but when Mediacomposer decides to rebuild the databases (as it occasionally must) all the media goes offline (ie the software loses the link to the media and can't find it). To resolve this I can take my media drive back to a PC based system and rebuild the databases there, then come back to my Tuxera mac system, the media is relinked and works again. However this is not always possible eg if I am working from home.

There are multiple reports of this same symptom and the Avid Community say this is possibly due to a conflict with OSX 10.7 and Tuxera. It would seem that it would be Tuxera that would need to resolve the issue. Is anyone aware of this problem or knows of any work around?

Many thanks
Steve

Post Re: Avid Media Composer loses link to media when using Tuxera
I want to second this request - Our company uses Media Composer and needs tuxera to be able to properly re-index (rebuild the databases) in the Avid MediaFiles folder. I would imagine this problem is because although tuxera makes the drive visable for write operations on the mac, it does not emulate the drive well enough to be indistinguishable from a HFS+ drive as far as the OS or Media Composer is concerned. Please help!
