Post Sticky: "Some files are visible, but others are not."
I have spotted various reports about a discrepancy between the files visible in Windows and the files visible when using NTFS-3G.
This thread is intended solely for discussions about this possible problem, if there is any.

Related problem reports:

If you have experienced something similar, please provide some details... like what driver flavor you're using (Tuxera NTFS for Mac, NTFS-3G or NTFS-3G (legacy)) and your settings (see the preference pane).

Hi, I have this problem of files accessable under macos (10.4) but not in win XP. When I try to access such a folder it says that the folder is empty/no permission. I use NTFS-3G with all checkboxes unticked. It seems that one reason for this behaviour has something to do with aborted file transfers to the affected folders (macos stopped the transfer because of some permission-issue).

Hi,

Would you like to share an image of your NTFS structures with us, so that we can more closely examine this issue?
Please see the second section in the FAQ for instructions on how to do that.
The image will contain all the NTFS volume structures, including the names and sizes of all your files and directories, but none of the file data.

You can send it to <email deleted to prevent spam> (if it's too large for you to send by email, then services like rapidshare may help).

Regards,

- Erik

I'm having an issue similar to this...I used Tuxera NTFS-3G to format a hard drive for use in an external media player enclosure, specifically an old MVIX 4000-U. The MVIX only recognizes NTFS or FAT32. I can read and write to the hard drive when it is connected to the Mac, but when I go to actually use the media player (play video on my TV), the MVIX shows the hard drive as empty. Plug it back in to my Mac though and the files are there. Before I used Tuxera NTFS-3G to format the drive, it was formatted with FAT32 and HFS+ partitions and the MVIX did recognize and play files via FAT32. I wanted to use NTFS however to avoid the size limitations of FAT32. Now, since formatting the disk in NTFS not only does the MVIX player not recognize any files at all in NTFS, but it will now no longer recognize files in FAT32 (I've reformatted the disk to check this). So, the drive works fine in NTFS when connected by USB to the Mac, I can write files to the drive and read files from the drive, I can play the videos on the drive just fine. But when the drive is disconnected in order to play files via the TV, the MVIX user interface comes up as normal but says the disk has 0 bytes on it, totally empty. I'm not sure if the problem is coming from the MVIX or something with NTFS-3G...I have factory reset the MVIX multiple times, rolled back the firmware, updated the firmware, etc and it changes nothing. So I'm hoping it's something with Tuxera that is causing this and can be fixed. Thanks...

Hello, I am using the trial version NTFS for Mac 2010.1, but I cannot read a large portion of files on a external USB drive. I extracted the NTFS metadata, it is 20.5 MB, I can upload to rapidshare but I don't have a support email address to send a link to (I dont want to put it on a public forum). Is there any chance to have this looked at, before I purchase? Want to make sure I can actually use the product.

thanks

Hello,

Thank you for creating the metadata image. Please send the link to szaka@tuxera.com with more details which files are not visible. Thanks.

Regards, Szaka
