Post Problems by copying files on external NTFS-formatted drive
Hi

I'm using ntfs-3g Version 2009.4.4 external FUSE 27 on Ubuntu 9.10 with latest updates.
I have continual problems by copying files from the ext3 drive inside my notebook to the external NTFS-formatted USB drive. The problem is basically always the same. This means that i cannot copy a specific file on my notebook into a specific directory on the external usb drive (Input/output error). When it happens i used to unmount and remount the external usb drive first and then i copy the file into another directory on the usb drive. After that i relocate the file copied on the usb drive into the specific directory i actually wanted to copy the file. Sometimes it works, sometimes not ...

Hi,

USB device reset problems. It could be power, cable, contact, driver, firmware, etc. NTFS only makes the problem visible but it's at a lower layer, or hardware related. Examples from the log file:
