Hi NTFS-3G team.

For the last two weeks or so, we have been trying to nail down a bug which is narrowed down to lowntfs-3g or fuse. I was hoping you could either validate this or point us in another direction.

We run lowntfs-3g version 2011.4.12AR.3 on debian squeeze. We use it to mount a Windows 7 NTFS drive and then we go through and calculate the md5 hash many files on the drive. Our code is literally 10 lines, and it does this very fast. In the process of iterating through the filesystem, we find that sometimes our simple code will freeze around 1 out of every 6 times on certain systems. It never hangs at the same point.

We ran hardware diagnostics on all hanging systems, and nothing stands out as corrupt or broken.

After the last observed hang, here is what we see in the logs related to ntfs/fuse (nothing really stands out otherwise):

# egrep -i 'fuse|ntfs' /var/log/*

What kernel version are you using ? A patch was applied to fuse kernel module 2.6.35 for a similar behavior : http://www.serverphorums.com/read.php?12,296094

Thanks for your helpful advice. We are running kernel 2.6.39.

We will recreate the freeze and attach more debug output (in compressed format)
